Dean Evason is now 0-2 against his former team after the Minnesota Wild went into their ex-bench coach's arena and defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 Saturday night.

Evason, fired by the Wild midway through last season, is in his first season with the Blue Jackets and he's already lost twice to Minnesota, having been beaten 3-2 in the season opener on Oct. 10. Meanwhile, coach John Hynes and the Wild are 3-0-2 and have yet to trail at any point this season after going wire-to-wire with the lead Saturday night.

Both teams had just one shot on goal in the first nine minutes of action before things began to loosen up, highlighted by Marco Rossi's move through the slot and a wrist shot that sizzled by Columbus goalie Daniil Tarasov for a 1-0 lead.

There was no scoring in the second period thanks to a Minnesota penalty kill that shut down a four-minute double-minor after Yakov Trenin was whistled for high-sticking. Minnesota goalie Filip Gustavsson made seven of his 23 saves during that kill.

In the third period, the Wild took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play and Kirill Kaprizov found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Mats Zuccarello made it 3-0 when he scored his third of the season with 12:34 left in the period.
