ESPN's "College GameDay" show was in Austin, Texas, in Week 8, previewing a prime-time matchup between the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs.

While Rece Davis and the ESPN "College GameDay" crew were in attendance for the Top 5 matchup, they also reviewed a few other ranked games on the Week 8 slate.

One of the many matchups that the "College GameDay" panel discussed was a game between No. 22 Illinois and No. 24 Michigan.

Michigan entered the game as a 3.5-point favorite , but they were denied the victory. The Big Ten battle against the Fighting Illini ended in a 21-7 victory for Illinois.

Lee Corso, a longtime member of the "College GameDay" panel, predicted the Illinois victory in Week 8. He believed the Fighting Illini had a chance to make their mark against a ranked opponent, and they would jump on that opportunity.

"I picked Illinois because it's a big game, finally at Illinois," Corso said . "They're not going to be denied."

The Fighting Illini were dominant on the defensive end. It's rare for a team to win a conference game with its quarterback throwing for nine completions on 80 yards, but Illinois proved that it's possible in Week 8.

Illinois didn't have much success at any level of their offense. Their leading rusher, Aidan Laughery, finished the game with 54 yards on nine carries.

Pat Bryant was the team's No. 1 receiver, finishing the game with four receptions and 32 yards.

An old-school matchup came down to ball security. Michigan gave up an interception and two fumbles in the game, which ultimately made the difference.

With the win over Michigan, the Fighting Illini advanced to 6-1 on the season.
