Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, has achieved the best regular season in Major League Soccer (MLS) history. On Saturday night, Messi showcased his extraordinary talent by scoring his first hat trick for the team, contributing to a remarkable 6-2 victory over the New England Revolution. This win propelled Inter Miami to a record-breaking 74 points in the season, surpassing the previous record of 73 points held by the Revolution.

Messi's performance left an indelible mark on the match, impressing even Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham, who watched from the bench at Chase Stadium. Following the game, Beckham and fellow co-owner Jorge Mas presented the MLS Supporters’ Shield trophy to Messi, goalkeeper Drake Callender, and midfielder Sergio Busquets. The celebration was filled with fireworks and pink confetti, marking a historic occasion for the club.

In addition to their impressive regular-season performance, Inter Miami was also announced as the host team for the FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States next summer. This announcement was made during the postgame ceremony by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, adding another layer of significance to the team's achievements this season.

Beckham praised the team's resilience, stating that the players had shown leadership during challenging times. He expressed optimism for the upcoming playoffs, emphasizing the need to focus on preparation after celebrating the team's success.

Luis Suarez played a vital role in the match, scoring two goals within three minutes. Messi, who entered the game in the 58th minute, quickly made an impact by assisting Benjamin Cresmachi’s goal with a perfect pass from Jordi Alba. He then scored twice in rapid succession before completing his hat trick in the 89th minute. This match followed a standout performance for Argentina, where Messi scored three goals and provided two assists in a World Cup qualifying match against Bolivia.

Inter Miami is poised to begin the MLS Cup Playoffs next Friday, facing the winner of the Eastern Conference wild-card game between CF Montreal and Atlanta United. With the best record in the league, including 22 wins, four losses, and eight draws, they will enjoy home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, aiming for a spot in the MLS Cup final on December 7.

Messi and Suarez concluded the regular season with 20 goals each, marking a historic moment as they became the first teammates in MLS history to achieve this feat. Despite limited playtime, Messi's season was remarkable, as he recorded 20 goals and 16 assists in just 19 appearances, making him one of only five players in league history to achieve 36 goal contributions in a single season.

As the playoffs approach, Inter Miami is filled with confidence and anticipation, especially with Messi in top form after recovering from a right ankle injury. Coach Tata Martino expressed his belief that the team is well-prepared for the crucial games ahead, with Messi in an ideal situation to shine when it matters most.
