CLOUD, Minn. – No. 5 St. Cloud State Volleyball (16-2, 10-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) swept Bemidji State (25-14, 25-15, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud.SCSU held the advantage over the Beavers (5-11, 0-8 NSIC) in points (57-33), kills (44-27), aces (10-3), assists (37-25) and digs (34-29). Each team recorded three blocks.The Huskies extended their best start to conference play (10-0) and match win streak (12) while recording their eighth sweep in their last 10 matches. Seven of the 12 matches during the streak have come against nationally ranked opponents.TOP HUSKIES<ul><li>Fifth year outside hitter Kenzie Foley (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa) – match-high 15 kills on .462 hitting and five digs</li><li>Senior libero Keely Kurschner (Maplewood, Minn.) – match-high 11 digs, five assists and match-high four aces</li><li>Junior setter Emma Berran (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) – match-high 28 assists, three digs and two aces</li></ul>QUOTABLE – St. Cloud State head coach Chad Braegelmann"That was a fun win against a scrappy Bemidji [State] team today. I thought we did a fantastic job putting some service pressure on them – any time you can have twice as many aces as you do service errors you will give yourself a chance to be successful. Offensively, we were very, very good and did a fantastic job of limiting our attacking errors. Our defense was a little bit flat footed to start the match and we gave up some off-speed shots, but I thought the women did a good job of adjusting defensively throughout each set. We were really great closing each set out to earn a solid team win."NOTABLES<ul><li>SCSU improves to 52-23 all-time against Bemidji State, including a 19-3 mark at Halenbeck Hall and a 9-1 tally over the last 10 matches.</li><li>SCSU has won 12 straight matches including seven wins over nationally ranked teams – No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State (sweep), No. 6 Wayne State, No. 9 Concordia-St. Paul (sweep), No. 15 Minnesota Duluth (sweep), No. 20 Michigan Tech, No. 24 Minnesota Duluth (sweep) and (RV) Minnesota State.</li><li>It is the first time SCSU has won 12 matches in a row this season. The last time the Huskies strung together a win streak of at least 12 matches was in 2022.</li><li>All eight of SCSU's sweeps this season have come during the last 10 matches.</li><li>St. Cloud State extended its best conference start in program history (10-0).</li><li>Foley led the match in kills and was third on the Huskies in digs. After playing in the first set, she moved into a tie for No. 10 in all-time sets played in program history (406) and ended the night in sole possession of No. 8 on that list with 408 sets played.</li><li>Kurschner led the match in digs and aces.</li><li>Berran led the match in assists and was one of three Huskies with two or more aces.</li><li>Sophomore middle blocker Hannah Bruskiewicz (Rogers, Minn.) posted seven kills and three block assists, tying for the second most in the match for both categories.</li><li>Sophomore outside hitter Shelby Kimm (North Liberty, Iowa) tallied eight digs and five kills.</li><li>Redshirt junior middle blocker Sam Zimmerman (Moorhead, Minn.) recorded six kills on .545 hitting.</li></ul>The Huskies host Minnesota Crookston (4-12, 1-7 NSIC) on Tuesday, before traveling to No. 23 Northern State (13-4, 5-4 NSIC) and MSU Moorhead (7-10, 2-7 NSIC) on Friday and Saturday. Tuesday's match is set to start at 6 p.m. at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, while Friday's match is set for 6 p.m. at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D. and Saturday's match will start at 3:30 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead.
