The tool is now available to the public for the first time.The Driving While Impaired (DWI) Dashboard allows users to search for information statewide or in their own community. Results can be filtered by age, alcohol concentration, incident day, time and more.“We're bringing the data together in a way that we hope will help both law enforcement and the public gain a better understanding of the impact of impaired driving on Minnesota communities," BCA Superintendent Drew Evans said. “This also brings important data to prevention efforts."The DWI Dashboard was created with funding from the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).“Saving lives on Minnesota roads requires solid data that can inform traffic safety programs and change dangerous driving choices," said OTS Director Mike Hanson. “There's no excuse to drive impaired. The DWI Dashboard gives our partners and now the public a valuable resource to make progress in preventing tragedy."The BCA first created the DWI Dashboard in 2016 to help law enforcement identify trends in crashes and arrests related to impaired driving that could help them plan prevention and response efforts. The tool law enforcement uses is the same tool that is now available to the public.<ul><li>Search results can be downloaded in Excel, CSV and other formats.</li><li>A NULL or 0.00 alcohol content level means collected evidence is still being tested, the impairment may not have been due to alcohol or that the driver indicated they had been drinking but passed a field sobriety test.</li><li>The DWI Dashboard includes data from the BCA's eCharging system and the OTS MNCrash system.</li><li>Approximately 5 percent of DWI incidents in the dashboard could not be mapped, however, all appear in the table that is below the map.</li></ul>The DWI Dashboard is available on the BCA website under Statistics/Reports.</div></body>
