Austin City Limits 2024 has come to a close. Another year of controlled chaos in the record books. This year’s headliners did a good job of splitting the crowd. However, the biggest draw of the weekend was the Sunday sunset time slot on American Express stage as Chappell Roan brought massive crowds both weekends leaving the rest of the park fairly empty. Oficial numbers have not been released but this sea of people definitely felt more dense than Sir Paul McCartney’s in 2018. Every year loyal fans flock to Zilker Park to see their favorite artists perform hits on either the Amex or Honda stage. Lately with all the social media platforms being the springboard for rising stars it’s tough to tell who might blow up from booking to actual performance. Lizzo’s 2019 Miller Lite performance is the perfect example, an uncomfortably large crowd squeezed into the smaller stage to watch her. Thankfully, ACL had the forethought to rebook Chappel Roan this year. It was a hot, fun weekend filled with so many humans. This is my experience.
