Saquon Reveals Brutally Frank 3-Word Take On Getting Booed in Eagles vs. Giants

A scan of the menu for Week 7 of the NFL season? We've got a Super Bowl rematch, a contest in London, playoff-caliber matchups, and even a face-off for the top spot in the toughest division in football all highlighting games for teams on Sunday.

But Giants vs. Eagles? This marks another game that means quite a lot to two major markets - especially with a superstar marking his first reunion as a member of a new team.

It was always unlikely that Saquon Barkley would return to the New York Giants when he became a free agent. The fact that he chose to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, though, made him public enemy No. 1 in the eyes of Big Blue.

On Sunday, Barkley will make his return to MetLife Stadium in an NFC East showdown between the Eagles and Giants. And he's wondering about whether he'll get booed. His first prediction? Nah. But ...

“I said I didn’t expect to get booed, and I was meaning more, like, this rivalry is so much bigger than what happened in the offseason between me and the Giants ... It’s been going on for a very long time, so I’ve been on the other side, so I know how Giants fans feel,'' he said. "I don’t know what the environment is going to be like, but I’m excited.''

So, "I don't know.'' And that's a brutally frank truth. It's about right - though we won't have to wait long to find out.

Barkley has his own personal reasons for wanting to produce in a big way for the Birds. For years in New York, he was told his value to the team wasn't as high as he thought. By making his negotiation public on the Offseason Edition of Hard Knocks, plenty of Eagles want Barkley to dominate against his former team.

    Is it possible, though?

“Whatever it is,'' he said of the environment, "I hope it gives me a little extra juice and I can go out there and perform and help my team win.”
