Two SEC programs suffered serious blows to their chances of winning a conference championship after losses on Saturday. Alabama's 24-17 defeat in Knoxville was the Crimson Tide's second loss in conference play.

Texas had the hot hand coming into their matchup with Georgia at home but Kirby Smart had his defense playing on another level Saturday night as the Bulldogs took care of business to earn a 30-15 win in Austin.

After Georgia's double-digit win on the road at a hostile Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium, Smart called out ESPN for their analysts overwhelming predictions that Texas would run away with a victory on Saturday night.

ESPN's college football analyst Paul Finebaum didn't make a prediction before the game, but he did put Texas on upset alert .

Finebaum offered sobering words for Texas after its defeat to a program that won national championships for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

"What have they (Texas) really done," Finebaum asked, per video on ESPN's website. "They beat a very bad Oklahoma team. They beat a very mediocre Michigan team in the Big House, and we all just said, 'Forget Georgia. Forget what Kirby Smart has done the last couple of years in building the best program in college football.'"

Texas had their brutal welcome to the SEC moment on Saturday night, as Georgia is easily the best conference opponent the Longhorns have faced all season.

Texas will have a few more SEC challenges to prove they belong in the College Football Playoff. They'll travel to play a Vanderbilt team that knocked off Alabama earlier this season. The Longhorns' final game on their schedule comes against No. 14 Texas A&M at College Station.

Georgia took Texas to school, even with the bs calls by the officials...I am not a Georgia fan at all, but I can recognize an outstanding team when I see one, and Georgia is, Texas has some serious issues with their offensive and defensive lines
