(WLOS) — Organizers at the BP in Swannanoa are continuing to help provide essential supplies to families impacted by Helene.Volunteers have been working around the clock, sorting donations and providing invaluable resources and additional assistance.On Saturday, Oct. 19, more than 300 people, including Gary Lewis and Charles Jackson, showed up at the BP in Swannanoa. The pair said they arrived in Swannanoa, N.C., wanting to help with the recovery efforts along with hundreds of others who have transformed the Swannanoa community into a temporary home to volunteers from across the country.Lewis said he has been volunteering for a week."I'm from just North of Myrtle Beach," he said.Jackson traveled from Ohio, telling News 13 he would be in Swannanoa until Wednesday, Oct. 23.Jackson said the impact of the disaster was profound, deeply impacting him and leaving a lasting impression."I've seen, heard stuff; it's really bad," Jackson said. "There was a man who was in a trailer over here, and when that flood came through here, it took the trailer and everybody in it, and his whole family was in the mud underneath his feet, and the water was up to his chest — there were people trying to rescue other people, and when he saw them coming, he said, 'Leave me alone and let me die because my family is underneath me."Jackson said he credits his faith as what pushed him to keep helping."Serving God is what motivates me, and that's what I come down here for — to help," he said. "My motivation is to glorify Him."Jackson referenced Matthew 25:40, which reads, "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."Distribution and pickup operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and close on Wednesdays.</div></body>
