Love Is Blind’s Alex Says Tim Was ‘Very Strategic’ With ‘What He Talked About In Front of Cameras’

Love Is Blind star Alex Byrd has spoken out regarding her breakup with Tim Godbee .

“It’s been unfortunate to see a lot of things Tim has been posting over the last 24 hours, but it wasn’t a mutual decision,” Alex, 33, said in an interview with Vulture published on October 18. “That was his own decision. Tim was very, very strategic on what he talked about in front of the camera, and I allowed that because if he doesn’t want to share something, he doesn’t have to.”

The reality star continued, “But I will say, if something bothered him, he would not address it until after we got off camera. And sometimes it would turn into an argument, because when you come from two different worlds, you might take something a different way, and now we’re just trying to understand each other.”

Love Is Blind viewers weren’t privy to the blowup Alex and Tim, 33, had during their trip to Cabo San Lucas after leaving the pods. However, it was seemingly bad enough that Tim refused to sleep in the same hotel room as Alex. Neither party has addressed the specifics of the incident, but Alex said that Tim not “understanding that there are two people in this relationship” was something she and the web content strategist weren’t “compatible” with.

“It’s not just your way or the highway, or your opinion is what matters. It’s both,” Alex explained to the publication.

Last week, Tim took to social media and gave fans some insight on his relationship with Alex and where they stood now that filming for Love Is Blind season 7 had finished.

“I have never argued with someone with the amount of consistency I did as with this experience. Many of which I did my best to keep off camera,” Tim said in part via Instagram on October 16. “Through hours of tough conversations that weren’t seen, I made the decision to remove myself from what felt like a toxic situation where I was being manipulated and given no serious effort from my partner. I truly believe if someone displayed the same behavior to a partner and the genders reversed the conversation around our story would be entirely different.”

However, Alex said that Tim’s accusations were “not true.”

“I feel like he’s just having a moment because now he’s starting to receive hate. And it’s unfortunate because this is a really harsh world, and to receive any type of hate can be really intense,” Alex pointed out. “You just have to be mentally prepared. I don’t wish that on anyone, especially him. However, I think the way he’s handling it is not helping.”

Alex confirmed that she “does not talk to [Tim] at all,” echoing his statement that the two are no longer friendly.

“I hate that my attempt to find love ended in a situation where I can’t even be friendly with a person I used to love because we live in what feels like two different realities,” Tim wrote in the post he shared last week. “To frame me as an angry or controlling person is a projection of all the stereotypes I have to work against because of who I was born into this world as. I was not looking forward to reliving this. There is nothing left to say. There is nothing left to talk about. Do the work. Be better. Grow. Move in peace but always be willing to defend yourself and the ones you love.”

Hopefully fans will get more information regarding what went on behind the scenes in Tim and Alex’s relationship when the Love Is Blind season 7 reunion hits Netflix on October 30.
