Browns Make QB Change Before Bengals Game

The Cleveland Browns (1-5) host the Cincinnati Bengals (2-4) for Sunday's Week 7 matchup.

Cleveland's 32nd-ranked offense, which has not reached 300 total yards or 175 passing yards in any of its six games this season, has fans growing more frustrated by the week.

With calls mounting for $230 million starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to be benched in favor of 10th-year veteran Jameis Winston, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has not budged.

For the last two weeks, Stefanski has doubled down that Watson still gives the Browns " the best chance to win ."

On Sunday, the team did make a quarterback move involving Winston, however, it's not the one fans have longed for.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero , the Browns have demoted Winston to their emergency No. 3 quarterback for the Bengals game.

"Meanwhile, Dorian Thompson-Robinson — not Jameis Winston — is the #Browns' No. 2 QB behind Deshaun Watson ..." Pelissero wrote on X.

Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round draft pick from 2023, has not yet appeared in a game in 2024. Last season, the 24-year-old started three games in place of the injured Watson, going 1-2, completing 53.5% of his passes for 440 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions.

Through six games this season, Watson's stat line has left about as much to be desired. Averaging a career-worst 5.1 yards per pass attempt, Watson is completing 61.3% of his passes for 1,020 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.

On the other side, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, now in his fifth season, is aiming for his first-ever win in Cleveland on Sunday. Cincinnati enters the divisional tilt as 5.5-point road favorites, according to ESPN Bet.

Watson just went down. I normally am not rooting for anyone to be injured but I hope that rapist just tore his Achilles. It's absolutely insulting to the sport and women that a rapist is allowed the privilege of playing a game and making a lot of money!
