Virginians have been hearing Keion Henderson's message about giving to the poor for decades

Virginians are not buying what Keion Henderson is selling

Pastor Keion Henderson has been in the news defending Bishop TD Jakes against the Diddy allegations. He recently has been criticized for saying that you are not blessed for giving to the poor.

Bible readers pulled out several scriptures, like Proverbs 19:17, which says the opposite. He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, And that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Sowing seeds has been emphasized for several decades

Lisa B. and Cherrie J. from Southwest Virginia say they heard a pastor's wife in the Word of Faith community preach this message in the early 2000s. They shared that the minister told the congregation to sow money upward and give money to people experiencing poverty.

Both women say they wondered how money knew whether you were giving or sowing. That's a good question. The sowing upward is a term used to encourage parishoners to keep giving to already wealthy preachers who say God blessed them with the money they begged from the congregation.

As long as people buy the false doctrine will be sold

Leon P. from Southside Virginia, and Kasey G., who grew up in the Tidewater area, said they have heard about sowing for decades but have yet to see anybody reap except those who preach the practice, like Keion Henderson and his mentor TD Jakes.

Linda L. from Southwest Virginia says that as long as people stay in churches preaching this doctrine and keep giving their money, the false doctrine will continue.
