The Downtown Phoenix Taco Boy's will be closed for "an unknown amount of time", according to the Phoenix Fire Department, after a wall caught fire early Sunday morning.

Phoenix Fire Department crews at about 2:30 a.m. responded to reports of a structure fire at 620 E Roosevelt Street. Once on scene, they observed "light smoke" coming from the interior of the building, the department said.

The department said crews were able to extinguish the small fire in the wall of the restaurant and prevent it from extending to the surrounding businesses.

The department said a ladder company was sent out to ensure the flames had not traveled up into the attic. The Taco Boy's location has sustained water and smoke damage.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported, and the Phoenix Fire Investigations Task Force remained on scene to investigate the cause.

Taco Boy's is a popular, locally owned Sonoran restaurant with several other locations in the Valley. They serve authentic tacos, vampiros, quesadillas, burritos and the best carne asada in metro Phoenix.
