Brooks Koepka's previous feud with Bryson DeChambeau appears to be officially over after the pair took to social media to officially announce 'The Showdown' with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler .

Koepka and DeChambeau will team up to take on their Tour rivals McIlroy and Scheffler, with the matchplay event taking place at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on Dec. 17. The match will see representatives on both sides of the PGA Tour -LIV Golf fallout face off for the very first time.

When it comes to the LIV partnership, it is fair to say Koepka and DeChambeau have not always seen eye-to-eye, having gone through a lengthy public fallout in years gone by.

The feud appeared to initially start in 2019 when Koepka took aim at DeChambeau's pace of play. “I just don’t understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball; it’s not that hard,” he told the Golf Monthly podcast four years ago.

"It’s always between two clubs; there’s a miss short, there’s a miss long. It really drives me nuts, especially when it’s a long hitter, because you know you’ve got two other guys or at least one guy that’s hitting before you so you can do all your calculations; you should have your numbers. “

From then on, the pair continued to trade verbal blows, before Koepka infamously rolled his eyes at DeChambeau after being put off by his former rival during an interview at the 2021 PGA Championship. The pair appeared to put their differences aside when helping Team USA win the Ryder Cup that same year.

That following summer in 2022, both Koepka and DeChambeau also opted to make the Saudi switch, further bringing the two stars together. And on the back of the announcement of their pairing at 'The Showdown' it appears all is now forgotten between two of golf's biggest names.

"It’s official, Brooks and I will be taking on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in an 18-hole match on December 17th. This is going to be one for the ages!" DeChambeau tweeted on Saturday. This then drew a response from his teammate Koepka, who confirmed their friendship.

"Did we just become best friends?" Koepka responded, quoting an infamous line from the movie Step Brothers, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. One man who has also hyped up the event is their rival McIlroy. "You've got two guys in Bryson and Brooks that have won majors in the last two years," he said at the Irish Open.

"You've got me in there who, I haven't done what those guys have done the last couple of years but I've definitely been I feel one of the best players in the world ." It's a way to show golf fans in the world that this is what could happen or these are the possibilities going forward. I've been saying this for a long time. I think golf and golf fans get to see us together more than four times a year."
