Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes came face to face in a in a one-one-one interview ahead of the Super Bowl rematch on Sunday.

Brady will be on the call for the Kansas City Chiefs ' matchup with the San Francisco 49ers . Before covering the game in his new broadcast role, he sat down with Mahomes for a segment on FOX NFL Sunday.

The reigning Super Bowl champion admitted his admiration for the legendary quarterback. Seen as two of the greatest signal-callers of all time, Mahomes and Brady have met in a Super Bowl, with the latter winning with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Chiefs.

Since then though, Kansas City and Mahomes have gone on to win back-to-back Super Bowl championships, with the two quarterbacks being compared against each other and discussions raging on who is the better player. Despite that narrative, the two made it clear they are happy to be compared to one another and share a great deal of admiration and respect.

When Brady asked Mahomes about how the Chiefs quarterback feels about being compared to him, he said: "It’s honestly and honor. I’m not saying that because you’re sitting here.

"You did it the right way. I think more than even the Super Bowls, it was the consistency you showed every single year, every single day. You came to work and you came to win. Just for me, it gives me something to chase. It’s going to be hard to get there, but I’m going to do my best trying to get there."

Responding, Brady said: "I just want to say proud of you, keep doing your thing the right way."

Brady added afterwards back in studio: "First time ever, literally sitting on the other side, in the other chair. But it was really just a fun experience. Patrick’s such a cool guy. We probably could’ve sat there for another hour or two just talking about football and our lives and stuff.

"So many people look at the way that he performs on the field. I pay more attention to the stuff he does off the field, how he takes care of his teammates in the offseason. I know he’s going to be a great player once the season kicks off but he says all the right things, he does all the right things. What a performer, and the Chiefs are lucky to have him."
