Dreamy French Silk Pie: Smooth and Velvety Creamy Chocolate Pie Recipe

Who can say no to chocolate french silk pie? Not me.

This dreamy, creamy chocolate pie is topped with loads of whipped cream, a light flaky crust and goes very nicely with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

It's truly seasonless. I recommend you eat this year round, whenever the craving strikes you.

    Ingredients

    For the Crust:

    • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (or chocolate cookie crumbs)
    • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

    For the Chocolate Filling:

    • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled slightly

    For the Whipped Topping:

    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Chocolate shavings or curls (for garnish)

    Directions

    Step 1: Make the Crust

    1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
    3. Form the Crust: Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.

Step 2: Prepare the Chocolate Filling

    1. Mix Cocoa and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and granulated sugar.
    2. Add Butter: Beat in the softened butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
    3. Incorporate Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This is crucial for achieving that silky texture.
    4. Add Vanilla and Chocolate: Stir in the vanilla extract and melted chocolate until fully combined. The filling should be rich and glossy.

    Step 3: Assemble the Pie

    1. Pour Filling: Spread the chocolate filling evenly into the cooled pie crust.
    2. Chill: Cover the pie and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible, to allow the filling to set.

Step 4: Prepare the Whipped Topping

    1. Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until soft peaks form.
    2. Top the Pie: Spread the whipped cream over the chilled chocolate filling, smoothing it out evenly.

    Step 5: Garnish and Serve

    1. Add Garnish: Top with chocolate shavings or curls for an elegant touch.
    2. Slice and Enjoy: Slice the pie and serve chilled. Enjoy every creamy, chocolaty bite!
