Daniel Jones pulled from game by Giants as Saquon Barkley makes him look foolish

Daniel Jones was pulled from the game in favor of Drew Lock as Saquon Barkley ’s Philadelphia Eagles crushed the New York Giants .

On Sunday at MetLife Stadium, Barkley starred as the Eagles surged to a dominant 25-point lead in the fourth quarter. Following Jalen Hurts ’ second touchdown via the ‘Brotherly Shove’, the Giants decided to make a change at quarterback.

It was a dismal day for Jones . The sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft , Jones completed 14 of 21 passes for just 99 yards - which is less than what Barkley put up on the ground - while the quarterback was sacked seven times.

Meanwhile, Barkley turned 17 carries into 177 yards and a touchdown, averaging 10.4 yards per carry. It was a sensational return to his former team for Barkley, who was booed throughout and even saw his jersey burned as he arrived in East Rutherford earlier in the day.

Barkley now has more touchdowns at MetLife Stadium this season than Jones, a stat which paints a sorry story for the quarterback. The Giants coaching staff decided they had seen enough; Jones was pulled with Lock entering the fold for the final quarter.

It was a tough start for Lock, who completed just one of his three pass attempts for negative yardage. The backup then found Wan'Dale Robinson to finally move forward, while also using his legs to move the chains.

Lock experienced his first taste of the fierce Eagles defense as he was sacked by Jalyx Hunt, who forced a fumble. The ball was recovered by the Giants, sparing the franchise the ignominy of a turnover, but a punt ensued.

The Eagles also made a change at quarterback, although it was under very different circumstances. Hurts had completed 10 of 14 pass attempts for 114 yards and a touchdown while adding two touchdowns and 22 yards on the ground before he was replaced by former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett.

The brutal defeat to the Eagles leaves the Giants languishing at 2-5 at the foot of the NFC East. The franchise sits bottom of the division, behind the 3-3 Dallas Cowboys as well as both the 4-2 Washington Commanders and Eagles.

The Giants are next in action against the 4-2 Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Monday Night Football on Monday, Oct. 28.
