Biddeford, ME – In the early hours of Sunday, October 20, 2024, fire departments from multiple towns, including Biddeford, Saco, and Old Orchard Beach, responded to a structure fire at 34 Proctor Road. The Office of the State Fire Marshal (FMO) was called to investigate the fire, which left the home damaged and the garage destroyed.

Investigators, working with Biddeford Police and Fire Departments, determined that 42-year-old Richard Olin of Saco was responsible for the fire. Olin, who was found at the scene, was arrested and charged with one count of arson and one count of burglary. He is currently being held without bail at York County Jail and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.

While residents were home at the time, they managed to escape safely, and no injuries were reported. Authorities confirmed that Olin did not live at the address but was familiar with the occupants of the house. Additional charges may be brought against him as the investigation continues.
