The Washington Commanders had a massive injury scare in the first quarter of their Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers, as star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury.

The injury occurred in the red zone during a drive in the first quarter. Daniels was clearly in pain as he was checked out on the sideline, and after being examined in the medical tent, he was taken to the locker room for X-rays.

Shortly thereafter, Daniels was labeled questionable to return to the game and was replaced by Marcus Mariota.

Thankfully, Daniels seems to be doing OK after initial tests on his injured rib. The positive update came from his mom, who took to X to provide the news we all needed to hear.

    "He's fine," she wrote.

It remains to be seen if Daniels will be able to come back into the game, but with the Commanders up 20-0 against the lowly Panthers as of this writing, they shouldn't risk it by putting him back out there even if he's healthy enough to play.

Mariota should be able to navigate the Commanders to a win. Prior to his exit, the No. 2 overall pick completed 2-of-2 passes for seven yards while adding another 50 yards on the ground.

Daniels has been a revelation for the Commanders through the first six games and has renewed hope in the franchise for a fan base that desperately needed something positive this season.
