Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold opens up about how hard the last few weeks have been

The Oklahoma Sooners offensive coaching staff, as well as Brent Venables, owe Jackson Arnold an apology.

Yes, I said it -- they pulled him because they thought the offensive issues were quarterback-related. And, yes, he wasn't playing great, but they were definitely not quarterback-related, and we saw that on Saturday against the South Carolina Gamecocks as well as last week in the Red River Rivalry against the Texas Longhorns.

True freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., who replaced Arnold during the Tennessee game, started the game against South Carolina in the worst way you can imagine. He threw an interception on his first pass. On the next possession, he fumbled the ball and it was returned for a touchdown. The next drive, he threw a pick-six.

The Sooners have a bad luck problem, with injuries being so bad. And they also have an overall offense issue, where nothing goes right in a system that needs a bunch of tiny things to go right at once for it to work. None of that is happening, and none of that has happened since they made the change.

With Hawkins' turnovers he made, the Sooners decided to try and give Arnold another shot. He showed that it's not all QB play, just a portion. The offense sucks as a whole, and even then he still had a beautiful throw to Thompson. After the game, he opened up on how the last few weeks have been for him.

“It was probably the hardest few weeks of my life. A lot of soul searching, a lot of diving into what I really care about, what I really care for," Arnold told the media after the game.

He is super talented, and you can still see that, even with a dwindled confidence. He has to have the right offense around him though, and hopefully, the Sooners can attempt to do that before the season is over. But, another way, it looks like Arnold is the guy they need to stick with for the rest of the season.

Just leave OU where you have a shot at a National Championship. You won't get that at OU
