Whether you’ve been sorted into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin, everyone is invited to this magically-fun event with exciting activities for fans of all ages.Attendees will enjoy a variety of craft stations and interactive games designed to immerse you in the world of Hogwarts. Create your own magic wand, mix up a magic potion and craft a transfiguration mask to transform yourself into something extraordinary. Throughout the event, participants will also have the chance to engage in wizarding games, which will challenge their magical knowledge and creativity. Drop in any time to experience the magic at the library.This event is a fantastic opportunity for fans to come together, show off costumes and experience the magic of Harry Potter at the library. All programs are free, unless otherwise noted.Adult Events“Scary Stuff Series: Money Wiring Scams” will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe by learning to protect yourself in today’s digital world; register in advance.Writers Corner will be meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22. Writers of all genres are invited to come network with other writers, take part in writing exercises, and participate in a monthly writing challenge.Do you have a problem keeping houseplants alive? Come learn how to take care of houseplants at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Emily Kresca from the Purdue Extension will come and share tips and tricks.Join in at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, for a special after-hours scary movie, “Psycho.” Get in the mood for the spooky season with this classic scary movie. This movie is geared toward adults; kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.Teen EventsEnjoy some larger than life fun with Giant Game Day at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. Play over-sized versions of classic games, such as Uno, Jenga, Twister and more. Open to all teens and tweens in grades 6-12.Teens are invited to get creative during the library’s Fright Night Crafternoon at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22. Make horror-inspired perler bead creations or an origami pumpkin.Teen Cocoa Club will be meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23. Color, do crafts or just relax while listening to teen librarian, Elizabeth, read a book aloud.Help add flair to the library by painting a bookend at the library’s teen painting class at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Whether you create an homage to your favorite book or movie or just a fun design, the possibilities are endless. Registration is requested but not required.Join in for a pizza party at the library during the “Over the Garden Wall” watch party at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. View this quirky cartoon, enjoy pizza and decorate your own rock friend; open to grades 6-12.Children’s EventsGather your crew and dive into the ultimate Minecraft escape room adventure. Register a team of up to eight players for a time slot Monday, Oct. 21, to test your skills in solving puzzles and uncovering clues to escape before time runs out.Baby and toddler story time will be at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22. Join Miss Cathy for songs, stories and intentional play for children ages birth through 36 months.Preschool story time will be meeting at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23. Mrs. Pam will be sharing stories, songs, finger plays and crafts.
