(Oct. 20, 2024) - Rollins VALORANT secured two more wins this week: a 2-0 win over Iowa State on Wednesday, Oct. 16 (13-9, 13-1) and another 2-0 win Friday night over the University of North Dakota (13-8, 13-3). This brings Rollins VALORANT's season record to a flawless 5-0, having not dropped a single map to an opponent so far. (NOTE: The matches against Harper College and Thomas College have been forfeit wins, as those opponents have resigned the season). Zachary Roach (ZSRoach) led the team in kills with 42 across both maps in Wednesday's match. Chase Jaumot (Chase) followed close behind with 35 kills, and Arjun Gaind (sugardad) brought up third with 29 kills. The team had a total of 153 kills, 70 assists, seven spike plants, and five spike defuses.In Friday's match, Chase Jaumot (Chase) led the team with 36 kills across both maps, with Chase Hollingsworth (Swinnable) and Zachary Roach (ZSRoach) tying for second place with 31 kills each. Zachary also led the team in assists, with 25 across both maps. In total, the team scored 152 kills, 61 assists, 15 spike plants, and six spike defuses.HOW IT HAPPENED:WEDNESDAYMap 1 (Haven)<ul><li>Rollins played well in the first half of the map, securing an 8-4 scoreline at the end of their defense half. Iowa fought back in the second half, bringing the game within one round (10-9), but Rollins regained their composure after a Thrifty round and won three rounds in a row to finish off the map at 13-9.</li></ul>Map 2 (Ascent)<ul><li>In contrast to the previous map, Rollins dominated throughout the game, only dropping a single round in the first half of the map, setting up an 11-1 start for Rollins' attack side. Rollins finished the map quickly from here, where they secured the first two rounds of the second half to finish the game 13-1.</li></ul>FRIDAYMap 1 (Ascent) <ul><li>In the first half of the map, Rollins struggled to find momentum on attack, with a scoreline of 7-5 in favour of UND after the initial 12 rounds. Once Rollins started on defense, however, they quickly turned the tide in their favour, only dropping another three rounds the entire second half, with a final scoreline of 13-8.</li></ul>Map 2 (Abyss)<ul><li>Rollins found themselves at a significant advantage after the first half of the map, where they started on defense, going 9-3 in rounds. Once on attack, Rollins did not give up a single round to UND, finishing the map up quickly at 13-3 for the final score. </li></ul>Rollins VALORANT is off this week, with the next match scheduled for Oct. 28th at 9:30 pm Eastern. However, Rollins Overwatch 2 has two matches this week, Oct. 21st at 8:00 pm against Roanoke College and Oct. 25th at 5:30 pm against Florida Tech, which will be played in person in the Alfond Sports Center Esports Lab!
