Deebo Samuel Roasted by NFL Fans After Embarrassing Photo Goes Viral

San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel has long been considered one of the best players, and best athletes, in the NFL, but after a new photo of the sixth-year wide receiver started to spread on social media on Sunday, opinions might be changing.

Leading up to the 49ers game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon, an image of Samuel in pregame warmups started to circulate online, showing what looks like a very out-of-shape player. It may be just a bad angle, but Deebo appears to have packed on a few pounds around the middle, to say the very least.

Samuel is listed at 6-foot-0, 215 pounds, but he looked to be carrying more than that on Sunday. It led to a lot of NFL fans cracking jokes at his expense on social media.

"The San Francisco Fatty 9ers," one fan joked .

"The check clear?" another fan asked, alluding to Deebo's recent $71 million contract signed in 2022.

"Deebo Harden," one fan called him , calling back to the numerous images of Los Angeles Clippers star James Harden, who has often showed up overweight and out of shape after an offseason.

Samuel was limited on Sunday in the 28-18 loss to the Chiefs with an illness. He played sparingly but recorded no stats. So far this year, he has been relatively disappointing, hauling in 20 catches for 335 yards and a touchdown. It's not up to the standards that fans have set for him, to say the least.

Whether he is out of shape or it was a bad camera angle is up for debate. We will see how he can turn his season around going forward.
