The Oklahoma Sooners needed to make a change. They did just that.

The Sooners offense has been one of the worst in all of college football this year, which is not something fans and media are used to. In fact, this team is almost the exact opposite of what they are used to with recent Oklahoma teams.

Under Lincoln Riley, the offense was amazing and the defense was terrible, just about every single year it was the same thing. This year, the defense is amazing, and the offense stinks. The Sooners needed a change because this offense is so bad that something has to happen. And, they did that.

On Sunday night, the day after their big 35-9 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Sooners fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, who was a captain and a National Champion under Oklahoma during his time as a player. But, that was then, this is now.

Here is the statement that Venables put out:

"Our performance as an offense this season has not at all lived up to the OU standard and I felt a change was necessary now."

Littrell's scheme was not great. In fact, it oftentimes just puts players in bad situations whether than help them. Now, it appears that Joe John Finley and Kevin Johns, two very real people, will take over the play-calling duties on the offensive side of the ball.
