La Jolla Country Day alum Tommy Edman is MVP of the National League Championship Series and on his way to the World Series.

His Dodgers eliminated the Mets Sunday with a 10-5 victory in Game 6 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium and Edman played a big part once again.

The role player was one of two Dodgers who homered to send Shohei Ohtani into the World Series for the first time, where L.A. will face the Yankees beginning Friday.

It’ll be the 12th time the Dodgers and Yankees, both storied franchises, meet in the series, but the first time in 43 years.

Edman graduated from La Jolla Country Day in 2013, then played college ball at Stanford before being drafted by St. Louis in the sixth round of the 2016 draft. He first made the big leagues in 2019.

The Dodgers briefly trailed 1-0 Sunday before Edman, an unlikely cleanup hitter, came up big.

He drove in the Dodgers’ first four runs and his 11 RBIs in the NLCS tied a franchise record set by Corey Seager in 2020 against Atlanta. Edman joined the Dodgers at the July trade deadline from St. Louis.

The Dodgers led 2-1 in the first on Edman’s double into the left-field corner off Sean Manaea, scoring Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández, who had both singled.

Facing two strikes in the third, Edman sent a 406-foot shot to left-center for a two-run home run. A walk to Max Muncy and two outs later, Smith homered 416 feet to center off Phil Maton, extending the lead to 6-1.

“It’s ridiculous,” he said to Fox Sports post-game. “You know, I’ve never hit clean-up in my life before this year … it feels weird you know … (but) it felt good to come through today, in a couple big situations.”

During L.A.’s 11 postseason games, Edman is hitting a scorching .341, with 15 hits, four extra-base hits and three stolen bases.

The Dodgers’ path to the NLCS came through San Diego. They rebounded from a 2-1 deficit in the NL Division Series, taking the final two games, including one at Petco Park, to end the Padres’ season.
