Maine's 28 wins under Coach Markwood are the most in a two-year span since the 2009-11 seasons (34).Maine is led by their backcourt pairing of Kellen Tynes and Jaden Clayton. Tynes is the back-to-back America East Defensive Player of the Year, and remains the only player in program history to win the award. Tynes is also a back-to-back All-Conference Third Team Member. Meanwhile Clayton leads the America East in assists (247) since his debut in the 2022-23 season.Maine brought in three transfers in Christopher Mantis, Killian Gribben and Ridvan Tutic, along with a pair of freshmen in Amare Allen and Darius Lopes to pair with four of their top seven returning scorers from a season ago.The Black Bears have had multiple All-Conference members in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 2011-13 seasons. Those being Gedi Juozapaitis (3rd Team) and Kellen Tynes (3rd Team) in 2022-23 and Peter Filipovity (2nd Team) and Tynes (3rd Team) in 2023-24.Vermont earns the top-spot in the America East Preseason Poll with 64 points and eight first place votes.
