Sting has categorically ruled out coming back to wrestle again.

The Icon had one of the best retirement matches in history in March this year. After a four-year-run of wrestling for AEW, he teamed with Darby Allin to take on the Young Bucks, with the AEW Tag Team Championships on the line. With the help of his two sons, Sting and Darby Allin retained the titles. He did make an appearance to help Darby Allin at All In 2024, but he won’t be wrestling ever again.

Sting spoke with Kayfabe Friends at the Cauliflower Alley Club , where he was asked how he plans to deal with missing the adrenaline rush of wrestling in retirement. The former WCW Champion acknowledged that anybody who says they don’t miss wrestling is “a liar”. However, he made it clear that he was never going to return to the ring again.

Sting went on to explain why he retired in the WWE, and how Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes managed to coax him back for his AEW run.

“Anyone who would say that they would not miss that is a liar, all right? So, of course, I’ll miss that. But I’m never going to come back to wrestle again—I know that. No, I mean, I did retire with WWE, but you know, I also said, ‘The only thing for sure about Sting is nothing’s for sure.’ This isn’t, you know, goodbye; it’s just see you later, basically.”

“I did leave it open-ended, pretty much. I didn’t really want to retire at that time. It was kind of like a mutual deal that I did with WWE at the time. Vince wanted me to retire under his umbrella, and at the time I was okay with that. And it was five-plus years that I was retired. But I came back because, again, like I said in my little speech there, I got that phone call from Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes, and they wanted me to come back and play one more time. So I did. The rest is history.”
