Time to make your selection for the Lee County High School Student of the Week. We have a great line-up of nominees this week.</p><p>You can start voting today. The voting will end at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24</p><p>You can vote by clicking on this link or scroll down to the bottom of the page to cast your vote.</p><p>Good luck to all of the nominees!</p><h2>Student of the Week nominations for: Oct. 21-24</h2><p>Here are the list of nominees for the Lee County High School Student of the Week:</p><h2>Jessica "Jesslyn" Beach - Evangelical Christian School</h2><p><b>Jessica “Jesslyn” Beach</b> is a tenth grade student at Evangelical Christian School (ECS). She is an extremely strong student, both academically and spiritually, and challenges herself by taking Honors, Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement classes. She is part of ECS’s International Leadership Program and went to the United Kingdom during her 9th grade year. Jesslyn made the Principal’s List after 9th grade and has been a part of the Varsity Swim Team since 7th grade. Math is her favorite subject and she loves being a part of the Fine Arts Program at ECS. Jesslyn is looking forward to being in the school musical again this year. Jesslyn loves to hang out with her friends and family and loves to bake bread and baked goods.</p><h2>Kaylee Marburger - Ida S. Baker High School</h2><p>Ida S. Baker High School's nomination for Student of the Week is <b>Kaylee Marburger</b>, a 10th grader.</p><p>Kaylee is a straight A student, taking Honors and AICE Classes. She is also captain of the girls' Bowling team where she is currently the lead player in the district. Over the weekend Kaylee took 4th place in a 16 and up tournament, competing against adults and other students. In her free time, she works as a nanny to two children -- a 4-month-old and a two-year-old. Kaylee is also a member of the girls' wrestling team. Kylee is a very humble and shy young lady and would never put herself in the light. This is what makes her a truly great student!</p><p>Kaylee has a 4.04 GPA, is a member of the Baker bowling and wrestling teams, and still finds time to work and volunteer.</p><p>We are thrilled to nominate Kaylee for this honor!</p><h2>Anthony Santos - Gateway High School</h2><p>Gateway High School would like to nominate 10th grade scholar <b>Anthony Santos</b> this week. Anthony brings a very enjoyable presence to his classes by bringing a lighthearted attitude and smiles – including his own. He is vey bright and shows lots of enthusiasm when he participates in class discussions. Anthony is part of our AVID program including many other scholars at Gateway High School planning for a great future. He enjoys working on his work promptly and well in order to stay on task at all times. Anthony has a great values that are heading him to a success which is why we like to nominate him as our student of the week!</p><h2>Joseph Busher - SWFL Christian Academy</h2><p>This week’s nominee for Student of the Week goes to <b>Joseph Busher</b>, a Senior at SFCA. Joseph has been involved in various organizations and sports teams while at SFCA, including National Honor Society, Student Leadership Academy, Cross Country and Tennis. Joseph, known to all as Joey, has a stellar GPA of 4.4 and when not immersed in athletics or his studies, can be found volunteering in the community or in the football stands playing in the school’s Pep Band and Drumline. Joey is never idle and is known to his teachers and friends for having a strong work ethic, being a servant leader and for his dependability. He is a student in whom you can count on for his loyalty and character. Joey is a Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, a recognition for his exceptional academic promise demonstrated by his outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT test last October.</p><h2>Anna Denoy - Cypress Lake High School</h2><p><b>Anna Denoy</b> is an outstanding student and leader who has made significant contributions to her school and community through both academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. For four years, Anna has been a dedicated member of the marching band, serving as a squad leader for the past two. Her passion for music is further demonstrated through her participation in the Tri-M Music Honor Society for three years, as well as her role as a band center major. She has played the flute since 6th grade, showcasing her talent and commitment to her craft. Beyond music, Anna excels athletically as a varsity cheerleader and plans to play girls flag football again this year, after a successful season last year.</p><p>Anna’s leadership shines not only in her extracurricular activities but also in her academic and service endeavors. She has been a class officer, serving as both the Junior and Senior Class Treasurer. She’s also the Secretary of the National English Honor Society, and a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Save Promise Club, demonstrating her passion for service, academics, and character. Through her four years of participation in the “Be a Buddy” program, Anna has consistently shown her compassion and dedication to creating an inclusive community.</p><p>Anna's academic accomplishments are equally impressive, as she has taken a rigorous schedule of AP, Honors, and AICE classes since her freshman year. In addition to her achievements at school, Anna has been working at Publix for two years and maintains a commitment to personal wellness by going to the gym regularly.</p><p>Looking ahead, Anna plans to attend either the University of Florida or Florida State University, where she hopes to pursue a career in nursing or physical therapy. Her well-roundedness, leadership, and dedication make her a standout student and a wonderful role model for her peers.</p><h2>Landon McCarthy - North Fort Myers High School</h2><p><b>Landon McCarthy</b> has a 5.0 GPA, is a Carson scholar, and has been a part of the Cambridge AICE Program, earning his diploma of distinction. Within the AICE program, he earned the highest score nationally for AICE Geography. He participates in North’s theatre program, where he often works as the lighting designer, set designer, or stage manager for many productions. Landon is a part of many clubs at his school, including National Honor Society, and is an officer for North’s Math Team, International Youth Neuroscience Association, and a liaison for his school’s Student Government. Outside of school, he works as the lighting and sound technician for The Belle Theatre. After high school, Landon plans on pursuing a career in forensic pathology while also training in technical theatre.</p><h2>Nick Bloomston - Fort Myers High School</h2><p>He was nominated by his coach, Patrick Casey. Here is what Coach Casey had to say about Nick:</p><p>“I would like to nominate, <b>Nick Bloomston</b> for Student of the Week. Nick is a returning state champion for our weightlifting program and our team captain. Nick is an excellent student athlete. Nick boasts a 4.8 GPA and is currently enrolled in the IB program.</p><p>Aside from the obvious accolades, Nick is an excellent leader. He is passionate about his sport and eager to uplift others. Our team looks to him for inspiration and guidance. Nick's influence is also felt throughout the school as he is a current member of multiple clubs and organizations.</p><p>It is for all these reasons that I nominate Nick for Student of the Week. His efforts in the classroom and in his sport are an excellent example of what it means to be a greenie.”</p><h2>Maria Roa - Bishop Verot</h2><p><b>Maria Roa</b> is an exceptional student in the classroom and beyond. She is a scholar in every sense of the word. She was recommended in particular for her dedication and focus in the area of mathematics. Her teacher says she works extremely hard to master the content in her AP Calculus AB class. She does not give up until she understands. It is that relentless pursuit of knowledge and excellence that sets Maria apart from others. Maria has a rigorous schedule filled with AP and honors classes. She is an active member in the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Maria has a passion for music. She is a drum major in our school drumline. She also loves to create songs that help people to grow closer to God.
