    IL State Police Trooper Thompsen to be remembered in police procession

    CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A police procession honoring a trooper who died in the line of duty will be held on Monday afternoon.

    WCIA previously reported that Trooper Corey Thompsen was finishing a traffic enforcement detail on E. Leverett Road when a truck, driven by 32-year-old Helen Torres of Thomasboro, struck Thompsen’s motorcycle. Thompsen died from his injuries on Friday.

    According to St. Joseph and Stanton Fire Protection District a large police procession will move from Urbana to St. Joesph beginning around 1 p.m.

    The procession will move through 150 from the west to North Third Street to Freese Funeral Home in St. Joe.

    The St. Joseph and Stanton Fire Protection District said the procession will move through St. Joe around 1:10 and asks that community members are patient during the traffic delays.
