Among the players who were not available for Clemson’s game against Virginia last Saturday was backup defensive tackle Vic Burley.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney held a Zoom conference call with the media Monday and gave an injury update on the redshirt freshman.

Swinney anticipates Burley returning to action after Clemson’s upcoming open date this weekend, when the Tigers host Louisville at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2.

“We knew – I think it was Tuesday probably – that he was probably going to be out, wasn’t going to make it back,” Swinney said. “So yeah, he’s definitely a guy that should be back for sure.”

Burley has appeared in six of the Tigers’ seven games thus far this season. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder has tallied three total tackles.

Burley arrived at Clemson last year as a heralded former five-star prospect, a top-80 recruit nationally and the Georgia 5A Defensive Player of the Year. After enrolling early in January 2023, last year ended up being a redshirt year for Burley, as he missed all of last season with knee injuries.
