    Two Oxnard Police officers on administrative leave after shooting a non-cooperative man Monday

    OXNARD, Calif. – A 34-year-old Oxnard man was shot after officers responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in the 3700 block of Leeward Way Monday evening.

    Upon arriving at the scene around 9 p.m., officers spotted a man who matched the description with a firearm. Once they confronted him, officers tried to de-escalate the situation detailed a press release from the Oxnard Police Department.

    According to Oxnard Police, the suspect did not cooperate and then pointed the gun at officers. The two officers at the scene then shot their department-issued weapons at the man, hitting him.

    The man is listed in stable condition after receiving medical attention at the scene and being transported to Ventura County Medical Center for further treatment shared the Oxnard Police Department.

    No other people were injured in the incident stated the Oxnard Police Department.

    According to Oxnard Police, officer's body-worn cameras captured the incident and the department will release a Community Critical Incident Debriefing video at a yet-to-be-determined release date.

    The Oxnard Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting and the two officers who shot the man have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings explained the Oxnard Police Department.

    Representatives from the Ventura County District Attorney's Office responded to the scene and are assigned to monitor the investigation added the Oxnard Police Department.
