COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – Governor Henry McMaster is scheduled to hold a ceremonial bill signing on Tuesday to ban the possession of cell phones in South Carolina prisons.

Governor McMaster and Lieutenant Pamela S. Evette will be joined by SC Department of Corrections Director Bryan Stirling, members of the General Assembly and other state agency leaders for the bill signing.

Officials say the signing of H. 4002, will make the possession of telecommunications devices by South Carolina Department of Corrections inmates illegal.

Governor McMaster is set to sign the bill at 2:00 PM.
