The Cobb County Water System has reported two sewer overflows.

The first was an estimated 1,000 gallon wastewater sewer overflow that occurred on Oct. 13.

The overflow, resulting from roots, occurred at 484 Stillwaters Drive in Marietta and discharged into a tributary to Mud Creek.

The Water System was notified of the overflow on Oct. 13 at 1:26 p.m. and the overflow was stopped on Oct. 13 at 4:12 p.m.

Water System employees upon arrival observed sewage exiting from the ground near an aerial pipe and entering a drainage ditch that empties in the tributary. After using a jet machine to unstop the sewer line, the crew spread lime on the affected area. During their time onsite, the crew did not observe any fish fills.

The second was an estimated 360 gallon wastewater sewer overflow that occurred on Oct. 12.

The overflow, resulting from debris, occurred at 4874 Conductor Way in Mableton and discharged into a tributary of the Clay Branch.

The Water System was notified of the overflow on Oct. 12 at 3:15 p.m. and the overflow was stopped on Oct. 12 at 6:15 p.m.

Water System employees upon arrival observed two manholes spilling with secured lids. The sewage entered a storm drain connected to a nearby retention pond, which was released into the tributary. During their time onsite, the crew did not observe any solids or fish kills.
