Packers trade proposal lands former Super Bowl MVP in deadline blockbuster

The Green Bay Packers are 5-2 and are competing in a stacked NFC North. The division has three teams with five wins, and the Chicago Beras were 4-2 before their week 7seven bye.  The Packers could be tempted to strike a big trade to gain the edge.

The NFL trade deadline is on November 5 and Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst could be active. When listing trade proposals the Packers should avoid, FanSided's Rucker Haringey proposed this blockbuster trade that sends Cooper Kupp to Green Bay from the Los Angeles Rams:

    • Packers receive: Cooper Kupp
    • Rams receive: 2025 first-round pick

"Kupp would give the Packers just the sort of No. 1 wide receiver their depth chart sorely lacks at the moment," wrote Haringey. "The problem with acquiring him is that the Rams understand just how much of a difference-maker their veteran pass-catcher can be."

Haringey noted that Kupp is a temptation the Packers need to avoid. Kupp won Super Bowl MVP when the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he has dealt with injuries and will be making his return to the field in week eight.

"At first glance, this seems like a potential trade that would work for both teams. Kupp's age and salary make paying a first-round pick for his rights a deal the Packers need to avoid," wrote Haringey. "They can hang on to the first-round pick required to secure Kupp and spend it on a cheaper option in next April's draft. That player might not turn out be as good as Kupp but he will be younger and presumably, more durable."

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst is unlikely to part with a first-round pick in any situation. The Packers have plenty of young talent in their receiver room and seem content without having a true No. 1 option. In fact, it seems like they prefer having multiple players viewed as a threat.

Nope, would rather have the 1st round pick for another talented player at a position of more need.
