DOYLESTOWN, PA—The group behind The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens has donated $184,000—a big chunk of the proceeds from this year’s event—to Doylestown Hospital.

The funds will go to the VIA Maternity Center to purchase new patient beds for labor and delivery, a state-of-the art security and alert system for the unit, and new wireless fetal monitors for mothers in labor.

Other proceeds from this year’s designer house tour will go to the group’s committees that support the Central Bucks community. Some funds will also be used to maintain the James-Lorah Memorial Home on Main Street in Doylestown, which is the Village Improvement Association’s headquarters.

The VIA Maternity Center is near and dear to the Village Improvement Association because of the group’s history. The Village Improvement Association originally founded Doylestown Hospital in 1923 as a maternity hospital.

Today, the VIA Maternity Center brings about 1,300 babies into the world each year.

The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens is the group’s single biggest fundraiser.
