Early voting begins in Escambia County

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — Escambia County has opened 10 locations for registered voters to cast their early general-election vote.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 27,012 early votes had been cast in the county. In total, 214,651 voters have registered in Escambia County to cast their votes.

One Pensacola man, Rajiv Mahadkar, said he knows the importance of voting in each election.

“It is extremely important for everyone to vote,” he said, “because if you expect some changes in your life, in the government, in the civic body, whatever it may be, you have to vote, and that’s how you bring changes.”

Mahadkar emphasized that he wants them to know the responsibility of one’s civic duty.

“I teach my grandkids, right from the beginning, they are too small, they are young [to vote], but I let them know the importance of voting so when they grow up, they will understand and take that responsibility,” he said.

These early-voting locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day until November 2.
