ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A family has been left wanting answers after they lost a loved one to a hit-and-run in St. Petersburg Monday night.

They are desperate to find out who is responsible and why they never stopped.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21 on 9th Avenue South when Edward Webb was killed while crossing the street to his home.

“If anybody knows anything, just say something because that’s my dad,” said Khadejah Webb, the victim’s daughter.

“You can’t even go outside of your own home now and feel safe, it just isn’t right. We’re just asking anybody who knows anything or saw anything to please come forward,” said Teareasa Jackson, who is related to the victim’s wife.

The victim’s wife, Jeanette Chaniel, said she saw the entire thing.

“Hit him face on and knocked him, and ran over him, and kept going,” Chaniel said. “I was standing right here on the sidewalk because we walk in together.”

“Why did they do it? Why did they take an innocent life from a good person, a man that I’ve been with for 34 years,” she added.

St. Petersburg police said they are currently looking for three men who were riding in a stolen white Jeep SUV.

“Where this happened, it was in a neighborhood,” Lieutenant Jason Levy said. “It wasn’t on a major thoroughfare. The victim, he’s 70 years old, crossing the street going back to his house. He should not expect a vehicle speeding around the corner — a stolen vehicle — to hit him and kill him.”

Webb’s wife said he left quite a legacy behind.

“He is the eldest son of Bishop Edward William Webb Sr., who started many churches around here,” she said.

The entire family is holding each other tightly as they fight for justice.

“I just don’t know what this world is coming to, and I will seek justice. I want justice to the full maximum extent,” Chaniel said.

Both the family and police are asking anyone with information to come forward so they can get justice.
