The city of Oakland is stepping up its fight against illegal dumping by deploying 15 additional surveillance cameras equipped with Flock Safety automated license plate readers. These cameras, previously introduced across the Bay Area over the summer, will enhance the city’s efforts to identify and prosecute offenders.

Since 2022, Oakland has utilized these cameras to gather evidence against illegal dumping activities. The footage collected will be crucial in building cases, with violators facing fines of up to $1,000 per day.
