Actress Sarah Jessica Parker on Wednesday formally backed Vice President Harris’s presidential bid, saying she was doing so, in part, “for a certain childless cat lady I play on TV.”

Parker invoked her famous “Sex and the City” character, Carrie Bradshaw, in a Wednesday post on Instagram , alluding to Sen. JD Vance’s (R-Ohio) now-infamous criticism of women who have pet cats instead of children.

Parker listed more than two dozen reasons she is voting for the Democratic ticket in the caption of the photo, which depicted Parker faced away from the camera, placing a Harris-Walz campaign sign high in her window. On the windowsill, a cat sat facing the camera.

“For the love of my country,” Parker began, before listing other reasons for which she is making the endorsement.

Parker wrote that her support is for “our public schools,” “books,” “common sense gun laws,” “a living wage,” “opportunity,” “women,” “voting rights,” “the Dreamers,” “arts and culture,” “my mother and senior citizens,” “our military, past and currently serving,” “the climate,” “hope,” “friends and loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community,” “freedom,” “science,” “affordable healthcare,” “our union members,” “democracy,” “my daughters,” “my son,” “all of our children,” “equality,” “dignity,” “hope,” “the constitution,” “me,” “love,” “choice.”

She rounded out her reasons for endorsing the Harris-Walz ticket with a nod to the hit HBO series: “And for a certain childless cat lady I play on TV.”

“With an abundance of joy, optimism and pride,” she continued, “I am voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”

Parker is just the latest celebrity to publicly back Harris in the lead up to the election. Immediately following the first presidential debate, Taylor Swift took to social media to issue her endorsement of the vice president. She also referenced Vance’s comments in her endorsement, signing off the post referring to herself as “childless cat lady.”

Parker endorsed President Biden in 2020, but in 2022, she signaled she was not ready to support his hypothetical reelection campaign. At the time, Biden had indicated he would run again if he’s “in good health.”

Parker, a native Ohioan, helped launch the “Moms for Biden” initiative in the Buckeye State during his 2020 run. A longtime Democratic supporter, she also was named to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities by former President Obama.
