    Northwest Austin shopping center set for revamp; World Market relocating

    AUSTIN ( Austin Business Journal ) — A makeover is in the works for Arboretum Crossing, a 20-acre retail center in a prime northwest Austin location just minutes from The Domain. And like The Domain — known as Austin’s second downtown — this land could go sky-high.

    “We are in the midst of redevelopment plans,” said Rob Hauck, regional manager for California-based Stockdale Capital Partners , which owns Arboretum Crossing.

    The retail center at 9333 Research Blvd. has become increasingly idle as tenants have left, and two more big ones are preparing to follow suit — World Market and Ferguson. In a city hungry for retail space — Austin’s retail occupancy rate is 97% , and even less large spaces are available — Arboretum Crossing hasn’t been inking any lease deals for its existing vacancies.
