WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it arrested a man who they believe assaulted multiple women while walking in Northwest D.C.

Just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a woman told officers she was assaulted in the 1300 block of Irving Street NW. Officers noticed 33-year-old Ayotomiwa Babalola trying to run away, but they managed to stop him.

He was charged with Simple Assault for that incident but was connected to and charged with five other offenses that happened on Monday, Oct. 21.

At about 9 a.m., a teenage girl was walking in the 3100 block of 14th Street NW when MPD said Babalola approached her and touched her without her consent.

At about 10:25 a.m., a woman was walking in the 1300 block of L Street NW when the suspect approached her and touched her without her consent.

The same happened to another woman just minutes later at 10:28 a.m. at 13th and K streets NW.

At 11 a.m., a woman was walking in the 3000 block of F Street NW when he approached her and touched her without her consent, too.

Finally, at about 12:30 p.m., a fifth victim was walking in the 400 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW when Babalola reportedly went up to her and touched her without her consent.

Babalola was charged with five counts of Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse for those assaults. The victims all said he was a stranger to them.

MPD thanked the victims for coming forward and reporting the incidents. Anyone with information about these cases or any other sexual abuse cases is asked to contact police at (202)727-9099 or to submit a tip by texting 50411.
