Since premiering at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2023, Anna Kendrick's gripping new drama " Woman of the Hour " has had true crime enthusiasts taking to social media to share their enthusiastic reviews.

The film, which tells the harrowing tale of notorious real-life serial killer Rodney Alcala aka The Dating Game Killer—suspected of over 100 murders—topped the Netflix charts following its release on October 18. Fans are all over the platforms raving about the movie's intensity and Kendrick's performance.

One admirer tweeted: "#WomanOfTheHour was absolutely INCREDIBLE. This is what it is to be a woman. Excellently executed by Anna Kendrick . What a great directorial debut... just so powerful and tragic."

Another user was floored by the storytelling: "'Woman of the Hour' on Netflix is an insane movie and even more insane true story. Just wild."

The horror-drama showcases the terrifying saga of Rodney Alcala, played by Daniel Zovatto—which includes his time before and after appearing on a dating show where he encountered Cheryl Bradshaw, depicted by Kendrick. While Alcala is officially connected to eight murders, officials believe that his victim count might exceed 100, reports the Manchester Evening News .

He was caught in 1979, given the death sentence, but ultimately met his end in prison in 2021 before his execution could be fulfilled.

Despite initial uncertainty from some viewers about what to expect from Kendrick's latest venture, the response post-launch has been overwhelmingly positive, praising the narrative, as well as its star's acting prowess and directorial initiation.

Fans are already buzzing about Anna Kendrick's first-time directing with one viewer raving on X: "Watched Woman of the Hour this weekend and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. All of the women were amazing and the visceral dread Daniel Zovatto made me feel was crazy. Great directorial debut for Anna Kendrick."

Meanwhile, another impressed fan shared: "WOMAN OF THE HOUR: Anna Kendrick's directorial debut is a compelling and tense thriller revelling in its 70s period aesthetic and showcasing great potential in Kendrick's filmmaking prowess."

Garnering critical acclaim, Woman of the Hour has notched an impressive 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and is currently available for Netflix subscribers to stream.
