ROCHESTER, Ill. (WCIA) — In the Central State 8, young football players learn about the Leonard Bowl rivalry before even suiting up for youth ball.

“You always come to it and it’s the Coach Leonard versus Ken Leonard bowl,” said senior wide receiver Breck Calvert. “Now it’s not and now it’s like people like think down on it as not important but it still is, it’s a huge game and it’s still a rivalry we have to worry about every year.”

The Rockets return just three starters from their Class 4A state championship team but look toward the last game of the regular season. With a 6-2 record, they are already playoff-eligible.

Rochester will face Sacred Heart-Griffin in the annual game on Friday in our Spotlight Game of the Week.
