October is National Fire Prevention Month and the Northville Township Fire Department played a significant role recently in preventing fires across the nation. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) attended the October Board of Trustees meeting to thank the Fire Department for its July 2023 investigation of a home fire. The Department concluded that one of the family dogs unwittingly turned on the stove, setting fire to an air fryer that had been placed on top of it. Two dogs died as a result of the smoke inhalation. The Department notified the CPSC the next day after recreating the ease of turning the knob and discovering others complaining online about it, which prompted a review of the stove safety.
