HARTSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) — A Hartsville youth pastor turned himself in to Darlington County authorities on Thursday after being accused of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, deputies said.

Deputies began investigating Andrew Payne in January after a report was filed. As of 12:45 p.m., he remained in the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing on a charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Deputies said Payne “was reportedly the minor’s youth pastor at the time of the incident.”

Deputies said they were not able to release additional information or documents because doing so might harm their case. They also said they “have a duty to protect the juvenile victim’s identity.”

This case is still under investigation. Count on News13 for updates.
