Klay Thompson Shows Love to Warriors in Unique Fashion After Mavericks Debut

Klay Thompson began the next chapter of his NBA career on Thursday night with a strong debut performance with the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson logged 26 minutes in the 120-109 win over the San Antonio Spurs, impressing on both ends of the floor.

The 34-year-old, who spent the first 13 seasons of his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, scored 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He knocked down 6-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc while tacking on seven rebounds and three steals.

There was no shortage of praise for the veteran marksman after the strong showing, including significant praise from star teammate Luka Dončić .

Thompson was all smiles following the victory and appeared to have settled in with his Mavericks teammates just fine. But there was one rare moment from Thompson that checked in as an under-the-radar tip of the cap to where his career began.

As Thompson signed autographs after the game, he was spotted giving one to a fan who passed over his old Warriors jersey .

While Thompson's tenure with the Warriors ended on what some believed to be a sour note after the team let him walk in free agency, it's not surprising that he'd sign his old jersey. After all, Thompson won four titles and was a five-time All-Star with Golden State.

The "Splash Brothers" of Thompson and Stephen Curry left their mark on NBA history. Now, Thompson and star teammates Dončić and Kyrie Irving will look to lead the Mavericks to another NBA Finals run, possibly securing a fifth title for the former No. 11 overall pick.
