Speaker Law Firm stands out as Michigan's sole appellate boutique law firm, a distinction that reflects its founder's passion and vision.

Recognizing the need for specialized appellate services in Michigan, Liisa Speaker launched her firm to offer broad-based appellate expertise beyond the constraints of traditional practice areas.

Now in its 17th year, Speaker Law Firm has grown into a robust practice with 13 employees, including five attorneys, all under the leadership of women. The 100% women-owned firm also includes Jordan Ahlers-Smith and Elizabeth Parker.

The firm's success is evident in its consistent annual revenue of approximately $1.5 million in both 2022 and 2023. It has fostered a work environment that allows its team to balance professional excellence with personal fulfillment.

Speaker Law’s attorneys hold leadership positions in various legal associations, including the Family Law Section and Children's Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. The firm also contributes to local philanthropic efforts supporting women, such as pregnancy centers and homeless shelters.

Mentorship plays a crucial role at Speaker Law Firm, with a focus on hiring and developing women law clerks from Michigan State University and Cooley Law School. This commitment to nurturing talent extends beyond their clerkships, with ongoing support provided throughout their legal careers.

Recent accolades highlight the firm's growing influence. Liisa Speaker received the 2023 Stell Award from the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the Women Lawyers Association in honor of her contributions to the legal community and the advancement of women in the profession. She also was honored with the Outstanding Attorney Award by the Ingham County Bar Association in 2020. Further, the firm was recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in its Empowering Women issue for 2024.
