SEATTLE — The first wind storms of the fall season don't have to be the strongest of the year to do the most damage. At this time of year with the trees still fairly fully leafed out—and some branches naturally weakened through the dry and hot months of summer—it doesn't take much of a gust to bring down a branch or two.
