Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Five people have been arraigned in connection with a kidnapping earlier this month. They're accused of torturing and robbing the victim in an effort to get ransom money.

Daquel Braxton, 25, Savannah Brosius, 20, Dontavia McMorris, 21, Jeremiah Martin, 26, and Raymone Wilson, 20, all of Buffalo, have each been charged with kidnapping, robbery, and assault in connection with an incident on Virigina Street in Buffalo.

Prosecutors say back on Oct. 2, the quintet abducted the victim with the intent to compel a third person to pay money as a ransom.

Prosecutors say the suspects were known to the victim, and forced him into an apartment.

They're accused of working together to hold the victim against his will, where they assaulted, tortured, and physically restrained him for several hours. The defendants are also accused of forcibly robbing the victim of his personal property, including his cell phone, backpack, wallet and debit card.

When the victim was located the same evening by police, he was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he received treatment for serious physical injuries, including burns, bruises and lacerations to his head and body.

If convicted of the highest count, the maximum sentence for each of the five defendants is 25 years-to-life in prison.
