When it isn't even safe to walk from your car to go into the mall, you don't. At one time that was a nice mall for the area and the college kids. Maybe the space can be repurposed for USF housing or senior apartments.

The downfall of the University Mall has been since the mid 80s. Little gangs used it as their stomping grounds for practicing their skills. Security was minimal standards and ignored the gang activity. The parking lot wasn't even safe from mugging and attacks. In the mud 80s a young mother was attacked in Stuarts. Her six year old hid in a clothing rack. The young Stuart employees stayed behind the counter and just watched. They did not call for security. After it was over the woman got her child and walked to the Security Office.
